Vazhaipoo vadai recipe

How to prepare vazhaipoo (plaintain flower) vadai..

Ingredients:

vazhaipoo - 1 small size
gram dal - 150gms
green chillies (chopped) -3
salt to taste
hing powder - a pinch

Method to prepare vazhaipoo (plaintain flower) vadai:

1. Clean the vazhaipooand take the florets. If you have to know how to clean vazhaipoo, here is the way to do it. vazhaipoo ( plaintain flower cleaning)
2. chop the vazhaipoo florets into small pieces and  pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles. keep it aside.
2. soak gram dal in water for about 2 hours.
3. grind the gram dal in a blender without adding water.
4. take a bowl and add gram dal mixture along with salt, green chillies, cooked vazhaipoo and little hing powder.
5. mix it thoroughly.
6. heat the oil in a pan and once it is heated, take small rounds of batter, make vadas one by one and put in oil.
7. fry the vadas till it get golden brown colour.

How to clean vazhaipoo or banana flower

How to clean vazhaipoo (plaintain flower).

Here, in this post i will explain you how to clean vazhaipoo (banana flower). vazhaipoo is mostly used to prepare usili or vadai.

but we need to know how to clean the vazhaipoo before we used to prepare for dish..here we go with the simple steps:

note: scrub little salt in your hands so that it will avoid making ur hands black.

1. take a banana flower (vazhaipoo) and remove the outer skin

2. take one of the floret from the flower as shown below:


In the above picture, i marked which are the portions we need for cooking and which needs to be removed. Once it is done, the floret is cleaned and its now ready for cooking.

here i removed the stem like part and plastic like petal which we dont need at all..

here is the final cleaned vazhaipoo (banana flower)



Chop the cleaned veggie flower very finely and add it in diluted buttermilk to prevent from color changing.



thats it... you can now go ahead to prepare great dishes with this veggie flower..
