Elephant yam Senaikizhangu chips recipe

How to prepare elephant yam (senaikizhangu) chips:

Elephant yam is one of the tastiest vegetable. it is easily available also throughout the year. we normally do yam masala gravy or yam fry. but here i tried out yam chips which the kids will love to eat more. by this way we can introduce these kind of vegetables to kids rather than buying snacks from shops. it is tasty and healthy also.

Ingredients:

elephant yam (senaikizhangu) -1/4kg
red chilli powder -1 tsp
curry leaves - few
oil for frying
salt to taste

Method:

1. Chop the outer skin of elephant yam with sharp knife. (note:Please use some kitchen gloves for people who have skin allergy because while they touch this raw vegetable, it gives itching sensation)
2. wash the inner vegetable in clean water.
3. cut the inner vegetable into small thinner slices. if you have slicer, then use that right away, else knife would also do.
4. heat the oil in pan and once it is heated well, add slices and deep fry it.
5. put the chips in a bowl and add roasted curry leaves, red chilli powder & salt. mix thoroughly.

yam chips is ready now.
